Amcor's Sustainability Pledge

Our pledge for the future

Amcor is committed to designing all its packaging to be recyclable, reusable or compostable, using 30% recycled materials by 2030, and collaborating with partners across the value chain to drive packaging circularity.

We dream big about sustainability

We believe all packaging can be circular, packaging waste can be eliminated and efficient packaging can mitigate global warming. For us it starts with sustainability as a core company value, and it runs through our purpose of elevating customers, shaping lives and protecting the future.

Design for recyclability

By the end of fiscal year 2024, 95% of our rigid packaging, by weight, was recyclable in practice and at scale. Across our flexible packaging portfolio, we had developed recycle-ready solutions for 94% of products, measured by square meter, demonstrating strong progress toward our Pledge goals.

Post-consumer recycled plastic

We committed to purchasing 10% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic by 2025. Building on that ambition, we introduced a longer-term target in 2022 to use 30% recycled materials—including both pre- and post-consumer recycled content across all material types—across our global portfolio by 2030. As of fiscal year 2024, we have purchased 224,000 metric tons of PCR, marking significant progress toward our goals.

Toward a Circular Society – What it takes

Diverse group recycling together
  • Packaging design and production

Creating a circular society starts with how we design our packaging solutions. Through smart design and advanced materials, we engineer packaging for circularity - prioritizing recyclability, reusability and lower environmental impact from the start.

  • Consumer behavior and education

A circular society cannot exist without engaged consumers. We empower individuals and communities through our global and local partnerships and education initiatives that foster more sustainable consumption, elevating the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

  • Collection and sorting

Efficient material recovery is essential to closing the loop. We are transforming collection and sorting systems through AI, robotics and cutting-edge tracking technologies, ensuring more materials are captured, identified and prepared for recycling.

  • Recycling and offtake

Scaling a circular economy requires a robust recycling infrastructure. We support the advancement of mechanical and chemical recycling solutions, working with strategic partners to ensure that materials are not only recovered, but also reintegrated into new products.
