Sink in, activate, and help growth - Amcor Technology R&D FY25 Annual Conference.

Strategically located in Jiangyin, just an hour by bullet train from Shanghai, China, Amcor's Asia Pacific Innovation Center (APIC) has become a regional reference for packaging innovation. Since its official opening just three years ago, more than 130 customer teams have visited the center to accelerate their product innovation needs immersed in state-of-the art technology.

Chris Kenneally, President of Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific shares, "At Amcor, we are committed to bringing the best global expertise directly to our customers in Asia Pacific. Our innovation center in Jiangyin is a testament to this commitment, fostering collaboration and enabling faster, smarter solutions tailored to local market needs. By working closely with our customers, from global to local brands, we are driving innovation that addresses today's packaging challenges and helps shape a more sustainable future for our industry.

Driving innovation through co-creation and collaboration

Three key programs are:

The Catalyst™ Program

The Catalyst program drives innovation through collaboration, enabling over 300 customers to tailor solutions to their specific markets in the past four years. By leveraging advanced material science labs and analytical tools, Catalyst creates a flexible, creative environment to develop next-generation packaging solutions.

The Ideation and Prototyping Innovation Lab

Our rapid prototyping capabilities help clients shorten their product development cycles, significantly reducing time to market. By swiftly translating consumer insights and concepts into prototypes, the lab reduces bottlenecks and lowers barriers that can be particularly daunting for smaller companies. Our lab-based prototyping process could help to shorten this journey by up to 50%.

The Analytics & Application Lab

Packaging industry customers may face challenges such as unexpected material performance issues, production inefficiencies, and lengthy time-to-market for new products. These obstacles can hinder their product launches and ultimately affect business growth. Our specialized facility is designed to help customers identify these issues, simulate real-world production scenarios, and tackle them early on to ensure a cost-effective and seamless transition from design to manufacturing, accelerating innovation development in the market.

Extending the network across the region

To meet the growing demand for accessible innovation services in the Asia Pacific, we introduced Amcor Eye, an augmented reality technology, to provide virtual real-time services. For example, customers can connect from anywhere and be transported virtually to the APIC to view different production stages, run trials remotely and interact with Amcor's subject matter experts.

Building long-term customer relationships

Our success is rooted in three pillars that strengthen our relationships with customers:

  • Connection: Our innovation philosophy bridges commercial, creative, and technical disciplines, creating a shared language of innovation that helps improve collaboration within customers' organizations.
  • Co-creation: We partner with customers to identify their unique needs, working alongside them to design solutions that align with their vision and objectives.
  • Consistency: No matter where our customers engage with us, whether in our innovation centers in Wisconsin, Ghent, Jiangyin, or Brazil, they experience the same high standards of service and innovation.
